HEEL PAIN OR PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia ligament which supports the arch of the foot. The tender areas include the center or inner part of the heel. Pain often arises with the first few steps in the morning or after long periods of walking.

Conservative treatments for plantar fasciitis include rest, ice, stretching, orthopedic footwear, therapeutic modalities, and custom-made orthotics.

Invasive treatments for plantar fasciitis include a corticosteroid injection, plantar fasciotomy and pain management.

Severe cases may require an x-ray or ultrasound for further investigation. The treatment plan for plantar fasciitis ranges from weeks to months depending on the severity. Our chiropodists will take a patient centered approach for resolution of pain.
